Meet The Old Parks Team
Executive Committee
KEN MCARTHUR
Ken been a member of the Association for three years and served on the Property committee and been Honorary Treasurer for the past 2 years. Ken also served on the SGB of Parktown Girls and has a great affection for the school and pupils having started his career teaching in the late ’70s and then worked oversees for various companies. He coaches Athletics/ cross country at PHSG and is an ex-Provincial athlete, recently winning his age group in the last 947 cycle challenge.
SEAN HARMER
Sean joined the Old Parks Bowls section as a novice in 2016 and has enjoyed being immersed in club life ever since. Sean has assisted with the gardens at the bowls section for the last 2 years and served on Exco last year. He believes that Old Parks is like an extended family.
LIZETTE DRIESCHER
Lizette has been Old Parks Club Manager since 2006, managing 22 staff members and a family of around 1000 members. She previously managed recreation centres and worked as an events manager in the Bahamas and Caribbean. She loves adventure sports, the outdoors, running (sometimes) and dancing (always).
DAVE NOSWORTHY
Dave is the CEO and Head Coach of Cricket Mentor Pty Ltd as well as the Director of Cricket at St David’s Marist Inanda. A 1st Class Cricketer at school, he went on to be Head Coach and Director of Cricket with the Titans, Lions, Canterbury (NZ), Somerset CCC (UK), South African ‘A’/U19’s and New Zealand ‘A’ Cricket XI’s.
KEVIN ROBERTSON
Kevin started playing hockey in a ‘schoolboys’ side at the age of about sixteen and have been an active member of the club ever since. Over the years he has not only played hockey at Old Parks but cricket and soccer as well. Kevin served on a number of committees during his time as a member, including the Hockey Section, the Sports Club as well the Association and as a Trustee.
DOUGLAS TUCK
Douglas joined the Bowls Section of the Sports Club in February 1985 upon being transferred by his financial institution from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg. In 1985 non-old boys were placed on a waiting list to join as a member.”It has been a privilege to serve as the past treasurer of the Sports Club as well as the incumbent treasurer of the Bowls Section. I undertake to serve our members and the community at large, during my tenure as treasurer of the Sports Club.
ELEANOR TALBOT
Eleanor became a club member several years ago and took up the appointment of Chairperson of the Old Parks Association and Exco member in 2020. She is energetic about the importance of exercise, space and places for families and friends to come together. An old Parktonian, she is dedicated to revitalising the proud heritage of the club and ensuring it is protected for the future use of the community and generations to come.

Additional Members
DOUG NEILSON
Doug joined the club in 1965 and left 1984 to join club Oostelikes in Pretoria till 1994. He returned to Old Parks in 1995 and been a member ever since. Doug is the Convener and Head Coach of the Cricket Section and also coach full time at the club.
GAVIN TAYLOR
Gavin has been a member since he was a student at Parktown Boys High School. Gavin joined Old Parks around 1985 and have been a member ever since and played Hockey and Cricket at the club and is currently playing bowls. He has served on many committees at the club including sports sub section committees and the Association committee.
STUART BLYTH
Stuart initially joined Old Parks in 2018 when he brought his son to
join the soccer and cricket teams. After a few years on the sidelines,
Stuart started playing for the Old Parks Vets soccer team, which he now captains and helps manage.
CONN O'DONOGHUE
Conn is a member of the Bowls club and although he has been involved socially at Parks for a number of years, only started playing bowls more competitively for the last couple of years. With a back-round in Finance, Conn has a varied network of high net-worth individuals and businesses who he would like to become more involved in the community Social environment. Old Parks has become a second home to him and his family and he has chosen to commit some time to the enrichment of Old Parks Club.
ARTHUR WILLIAMS
I joined Old Parks in 2022 as a bowler and also play Padel Tennis at
the club. I am known as “Iceman”!
SEAN HUTCHINSON
Sean is a member of the Bowls club and although he has been involved socially at Parks for a number of years, only started playing bowls last year. Back in the 1980s he ran with RAC. Sean has a background in Health and Safety, the Scouting Movement as well as the Transvaal Scottish Regiment. Through these he has built up a very big social circle of individuals who he would like to become more involved in the community social environment. Old Parks has become a second home to him and his family and he has chosen to commit some time to the enrichment of Old Parks Sports Club. His hope is to bring back more of the Parktown boys, and their families, to this fantastic club.

SYLVANIA SHEPPARD
Sylvania studied and worked in Cape Town, gaining a B Tech degree in Business Administration. She then worked in administration for Ernst & Young, and thereafter in labour law for the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration in the Arbitration Department as a Professional Assistant whilst studying for her LLB through UNISA.
She subsequently lived in the United Kingdom, Russia and Greece. Following her return to South Africa, she was a Business Manager for an independent school, Pecanwood College in Hartebeespoort Dam.
Sylvania works at Legitimate Leadership (Management Consultancy), she is co-developer of the Afrika Tikkun-Legitimate Leadership Give to Grow programme aimed at developing and growing the youth in South Africa.
Sylvania grew up in Cape Town, the youngest of 10 siblings. She now lives in Johannesburg; she is married with three children. Her interest includes, most importantly, family – followed by community service, cooking, hiking and running, and Football!
GREG GAILEY
RYAN WESSELS
Ryan is a lawyer by profession and has been involved in the Cricket Section of the Old Parks Sports Club since 2015, including playing and captaining the Presidents XI side. He currently serves as Chairman of the Cricket Section and is also a member of the executive committee of the Old Parks Sports Club.
BILL BOWEN
Bill joined Old Parks Bowls section in 2007 and has served on the bowls committee in various capacities since 2008 when he was also the Men’s Singles Champion. He has been responsible for providing much needed annual sponsorship for the section from firstly his own Insurance Broking Company for a period of 10 years and from his current place of employment, Apio Risk Services, for the past 3 years. When not at Old Parks, you will probably find him on the Golf Course.
