The Old Parks Sports Club has various facilities, venues and fields available that can be hired for a variety of private functions. Our dedicated team will assist you in planning the perfect function that ticked all the boxes.
We have mobile bar and food services on the field and have 3-phase power for inflatables. Tipu Café, our contracted caters has an intimate restaurant on the property and can assist with menus. The offer includes spit braai, snack platters, buffet options and grab-and-go food. They can assist with Halaal food options.
OUR VENUES & FACILITIES
Venue ideal for birthday parties, small conferences, reunions, teambuilding events. Trestle tables and chairs are provided. Carpeted seating area and big dance floor area with private bar facilities in the venue. Two doors leading out onto shaded outdoor seating and braai area overlooking the fields. Back-up power in the event of load shedding.
Capacity: max 80 seated at tables, 100 theatre style.
Beautiful facility surrounded by gardens and bowling greens. This venue has carpeted space with round tables and padded chairs. The glass doors opens up onto a covered veranda, braai area and outdoor seating and have a viewing deck perfect for sundowners. This free standing venue is private but close enough to have outdoor activities on the adjacent fields. Ideal for corporate year-end functions, birthday parties up to 120 people and more. Fun bowls days can be arranged as part of the event.
Capacity: max 110 seated at tables, 95 theatre style.
Don’t let the name fool you! This intimate venue is open for all and boast the most spectacular views over Jhb and all our fields. The first floor venue has a cozy fireplace, bar facility and circular outdoors veranda area with an almost 360 degrees view of trees, fields and skyline. Book this venue for cocktail parties, meetings, baby showers etc.
Capacity: max 20 seated at tables, 30 theatre style.
SPORTS FIELDS & CORPORATE FUNCTIONS
Move your function outside or book our sports facilities. We have three fields available for events ranging from kids parties, individual sports team bookings to major corporate events for thousands! We host soccer tournaments, cricket and can provide additional sports equipment like volley ball, goals and more. Marquee tents can be accommodated depending on our sport fixtures and 3-phase power is available on our main field. Ample parking, change rooms and ablution facilities.
BAR AND SOCIAL FACILITIES
Although we cannot book out the club’s pub facilities for private functions, we can reserve some seats at our shaded outdoor seating. Bring your friends, arrange with our caterers for some food platters or braai and relax with your favourite drink, while enjoying our beautiful views. Back-up power in all social areas of the clubhouse.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR FACILITIES
Do I need to use the in house caterer?
We have a contracted caterer that can assist you with a variety of menu options. You need to obtain quotes from Tipu Café, but if you opt to use your own caterer, please note that no kitchen access will be granted to them. The outside caterer needs to supply their own cutlery, crockery & napery.
Do you cater for halaal and kosher requirements?
The in-house caterer can assist with halaal catering needs but not kosher requirements.
Can I bring my own drinks?
No. The club has a liquor license and will provide all drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks). We run the bar according to your specifications (cash bar, limit on drinks, vouchers etc). Corkage will be charged on wines being brought in by prior arrangements.
What time can I set up for my function?
The rooms are usually available from late morning, please make specific arrangements with the office.
Can I decorate the room?
Yes, with conditions. Table decorations and free standing drapings are allowed. No hooks or adhesive tape are allowed on the walls. No decorations are allowed on the suspended ceilings. Black table cloths can be hired at the club. Note, all rooms are non-smoking but has smoking areas located outside the venues.
What about music?
You can arrange your own DJ for the function or we can assist with references. The club does not provide any sound equipment. Music can be played in all the function rooms but due to Council bylaws, no loud music is allowed on the fields. Outdoor music events in the evenings are not allowed.
Do I need to clean up after the function?
No, we save you the hassle!! You do however need to remove all table decorations, sound equipment and draping you brought in.
Depending on your schedule of set-up and breakdown. We need to work around sport practices and league matches booked on the fields. You might need to book additional days for setup or breakdown, if available. Marquee tents needs to be erected under strict supervision of our ground staff, to prevent damage to our irrigation lines on the field.
Can we arrange inflatables and other fun activities when booking the fields?
Definitely! We need to confirm the location of equipment that needs to be pegged into the ground. Some fields have 3-phase power for these equipment and other areas limited electricity. Water activities are possible on the sides of the fields.
